The Twitter Mess
I really can't look away from the Twitter mess recently. I really don't even know why I care. I haven't had a Twitter account in ages. Even then, I didn't really see the point. Maybe it is the same reason people can't help but look at car wrecks on the highway.
Ok, there are sometimes informative tweetstorms. But really they should be blogs. And I never found the signal to noise ratio to be terribly high. It was just so much noise, and fixing my feed so it was ok never seemed worth the trouble.
But I am truly fascinated by this social experiment where it seems like it is suddenly going away. It is going away, right? Can we have the blogosphere back? Because if so, I am so up for it.
For now, I am not getting a Fediverse account. Mastodon seems just so wasteful of compute resources. Honestly, it is more interesting to me from a hosting and infrastructure point of view than as a way of getting my ideas out there.
